Working within a live building, with both traders and the public present throughout, the design needed to make efficient use of the existing space while respecting the character of the building and minimising disruption during delivery.
The Brief
The project required the conversion of an existing space within a live building, with traders and the public present throughout.
Minimising disruption while working within the building’s constraints was key.
The Work
Reconfiguring the existing floorplate, we introduced new wall layouts to create a structured workspace supported by meeting rooms, breakout areas and dedicated facilities.
Key elements of the fit-out included bespoke furniture, glazed partitions, new shower rooms, and full mechanical and electrical installations, alongside new wall and floor finishes throughout. Existing features were retained and integrated into the design where possible, allowing the character of the building to remain visible within the finished space.
The Result
A workspace that sits comfortably within the building, retaining its identity while introducing a clear and functional layout for modern use.
Exposed brickwork, original structure and new interventions work alongside one another, creating a space that feels grounded in its setting while supporting day-to-day working. Delivered within a live environment, the project balances practical constraints with a strong, well-resolved finish.
